This episode covers the attempted assassination of Teddy Roosevelt, the General Slocum disaster, and a hero of that disaster Mary Ann Mcann. In 1912 Teddy Roosevelt was almost killed by an assassin. Rather than die, he sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and continued on with his day as planned. This is a wild story and one that often gets overlooked in the history books. There was a silver lining of the disaster however as Mary Ann McAnn became a national hero.
